COMUR PE500 GEARING HEAD OVERHAUL
Elimination of manufacturing defects with restoration of kinematic precision.
The Comur PE500 gear hobbing machine had a serious precision defect as during processing, the pieces were marked by error "commas" which appeared in ever-changing positions, compromising the quality of the production process and the precision of the gear hobbing .
After a thorough analysis we identified the problem as being caused by advanced wear of internal head components and excessive play on the splined shaft .
To restore the correct functioning of the machine, we performed an overhaul that included the complete disassembly of the head with a detailed analysis of the conditions of each component, grinding of the splined shaft eliminating the irregularities that caused play and inaccuracy, reconstruction of the bushings and replacement of the damaged ones to restore the correct movement guidance, adjustment of the splined shaft for optimal coupling and finally after reassembling the machine we performed various functional tests to verify the total elimination of the manufacturing defects.
