PIETRO CARNAGHI VERTICAL LATHE REPAIR

Elimination of vibrations on the carriages and restoration of machining precision.

The Pietro Carnaghi vertical lathe presented abnormal vibrations on both carriages during processing, compromising the quality of the pieces produced and reducing operational precision.

After a careful analysis we identified the main cause of the problem in the worn sliding surfaces and the lack of planarity of the uprights , which generated instability during the movement of the carriages.

To eliminate vibrations and restore the reliability of the lathe we performed a repair intervention that included the complete disassembly of both carriages for a detailed analysis, manual scraping of the carriages to improve adhesion and flatness, scraping of the uprights to ensure perfect parallelism of the guides, scraping of the thieves to optimize contact and reduce mechanical play and finally after the complete reassembly of the machine we performed various functional tests to verify the elimination of vibrations and the correct movement of the carriages.
